Profiles:
A 'User' profile within Teradata is a method of grouping attributes that are associated with a number of users. For example a profile named Standard_user can have attributes denoting the amount of allocated spool space, and all users assigned this profile will inherit this attribute.
The benefits of this approach include simpler administration of common user attributes. Profiles should not be confused with Roles which concern the access rights/permissions of users over database objects.
