Primary Index:

A mechanism for assigning a row to or retrieving a row from an AMP. The primary index is made up of either one or more column and is processed by a hashing algorithm that computes a value that correlates to a particular AMP. The Primary Index is the sole mechanism by which data is destributed over the system,
