term: Secondary Index

An alternate path to the data stored that improves performance
by providing faster set selection and allows the user to avoid scanning the
entire table during a query. It is like a primary index in that it allows the user to
locate rows. Unlike the primary index, however, it has no influence on the way
the rows are distributed among the AMPs.
